It was an unplanned trip. Then I was traveling with my family in Himachal Pradesh and it was the last day(5th april,2018) of our trip. We had a few hours on our hands, because checkout time of the homestay was 9 am and we had a reservation from Pathankot to Old Delhi station at a 2nd AC train at 10:40pm. So, we decided to go to visit the Golden Temple(Amritsar, INDIA). The owner of the homestay of Mcleodganj arranged a very good AC car for us. We started for Amritsar at 9:30 am. We had booked the car for whole day and we had to pay Rs 6500 for this trip. We reached Amritsar at about 2 pm.

The Golden Temple of Amritsar(INDIA) is not only a central religious place of the Sikhs, but also a symbol of human brotherhood and equality. It was built in 1577 AD and the temple’s dome is gilded with 750 kg pure gold. The Golden Temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib. It is surrounded by water on three of it’s and on one you have a bridge to walk into the temple. We need to take out our footwear before we entering the holy temple. There are free footwear collection stalls. We walked around the temple and reached the prasad counter. We purchased a coupon for Rs 100 and on presenting the coupon, they gave us a plate of halwa. At the entrance of the temple they took the plate of halwa and put it in a big vessel and mix it well. Then, they gave us some halwa as prasad. Then we stood in the line to enter the Golden Temple. We entered the temple after 30 minutes.Photography is prohibited inside Golden Temple.

At the langar of Golden Temple, food is served to all visitors regardless of faith and background.

We came out from Golden Temple at 7:15 pm and started for Pathankot by car.We reached Pathankot railway station at 9:50 pm.
